Non - Finite Verbs

The non-finite verbs are divided into three classes :-

(i) The Infinitive (ii) The Participle (iii) The Gerund

The Infinitive - Infinite is a kind of noun with certain features of a verb.

The Participle - A Particle performs the functions both of the verb and the adjective therefore it is also called Verbal Adjective.

Kinds of Participle -
(i) Present Particle (V1 + ing)

(ii) Past Participle (V3)

(iii) Perfect Participle (having + V3)


The Gerund - A Gerund is that form of the verb which ends in 'ing' and has the force of a Noun and a verb.
